EUMETSAT’s vision is to be the leading user-driven operational meteorological satellite agency in Europe and a trusted global partner for weather and Earth system monitoring from space.

To achieve that, and to fulfil the needs of the meteorological services in its member states, EUMETSAT must maintain relationships with European and international partners.

This ensures EUMETSAT’s satellite programmes and services continue to be relevant to meteorological services and enable them to provide accurate and timely weather forecasts and information about the climate for the protection of life, property and economies.

As part of the European meteorological infrastructure (EMI)  network, EUMETSAT – working together with the ECMWF  and EUMETNET  - responds to the evolving needs of the national meteorological and hydrological services of its member states.

As a partner in the Space Strategy for Europe, EUMETSAT is also working with ESA and the European Commission on projects which support key European policies.

EUMETSAT supports EU policies such as its “Green Deal”, which is the EU’s strategy to reach its goal of climate neutrality by 2050, and the digital strategy, which aims to ensure digital transformation works for people and businesses. The EU entrusts EUMETSAT with key roles in the Copernicus component of its space programme and the Destination Earth initiative, which is creating digital “twins” of our planet. EUMETSAT also supports EU policies on cooperation, research and monitoring of the environment.
